A YouGov survey published this week reports that less than a quarter of Britons trust their government to protect their identity on line. The survey of 2000 people by the polling organisation also found strong opposition to the idea of federated identity services.

I believe the figures would have been considerably higher had the public been informed by a full and frank debate about what it is the government may really do with the information it collects about them.

It's also interesting to note that public support for the Iraq war continues to decline month on month. Down from a high of 50% in March 2003, to it's current low of 33%.
