The London bombings have led to widespread calls from all sides of the mainstream political spectrum for the introduction of a new and tougher range of security measures. In the wake of the latest round of terrorganda, previously faltering public support, has swung solidly behind the idea that we must give up a larger measure of our civil liberties, in order to achieve greater security.

A range of proposals are being considered, and despite the grave concerns expressed in many quarters, the Blair administration looks set to push through a raft of new powers early in the next parliamentary session. All the major European powers are considering similar proposals, and the United States is moving in the direction of passing the Patriot Act into law for a further ten year period.

Perhaps the most troubling troubling turn of events, seems to be a hardening of government and media attitudes towards opinions that question the believability of the official line. This has spread to include almost any assertion that contradicts an official one, despite the fact, that on many occasions, the officially sanctioned 'truth' has shown itself to be a fabricated lie. In a country that is now apparently willing to consider the merits of withdrawing from aspects of the Geneva Convetion, these must be seen as worrying trends.

A society where all citizens are relentlessly scrutinized by the ever present eye of a totalitarian surveillance state. Where false beliefs are ruthlessly conditioned, and the media is systematically altered in real-time to conceal the facts. A world where freedom has vanished, and truth is deemed to be morally relative. Engaged in a never ending war, against an invisible enemy from within and without. Zimbabwean dictator Robert Mugabe is currently engaged in a  program to destroy the homes of hundreds of thousands of people, who do not support his murderous regime. So it should come as no surprise, to witness his new found enthusiasm for selling his country's wealth, and people into slavish servitude to Communist China. Dictators like to dine together, and care little for the rights and freedoms of the plantation slaves who service their lavish banquets.

The Russian youth 'movement' Nashi (Ours) continues it's attempt to inculcate political and ideological support amongst the young in Putin's Russia. With planned events given titles like "Ready for the Defense of the Motherland" or "We Believe in You, Soldier" and secretive meetings inside the Kremlin, Nashi's influence continues to grow.

Am I alone in finding this kind of State indoctrination of youth disturbing?

Nice to see that Channel 4 have provided us with a neat series of explanations, explaining away the strange coincidence of drills being run in London on July 7th. The drills organised by Mr Peter Power and Visor Consultants, were on behalf of an as yet unamed private company. Nonetheless, they  manged to select a scenario that targeted the same Tube stations, at the same times, on the same day, with the same "simultaneous explosions." These were then replicated in an eeerily similar manner in reality.

Despite the good intentions of the author to explain all of this away, I'm still having difficulty accepting the hypothesis that all of this is pure coincidence. Mr Power's comments were made on the day of the attack(s) on BBC's Five Live 'Drive' show, in the early evening.  Strangely, BBC news only reported "almost simultaneous" explosions on July 9th, two days later.

Equally, I remain bemused and appauled by the killing of an innocent man, Mr Jean Charles de Menezes a 27 year old Brazilian electrician, in Stockwell Tube station on Friday morning. If as we have now been informed, the man was NOT connected to the London attacks, how is it possible that an ARU (Armed Response Unit) or whoever was chasing this suspect, deemed it necessary to execute an unarmed civilian by firing five (or more?) bullets at close range into his body, in a public carriage in front of members of the public? Metroplitan Police Chief Sir Ian Blair stated:

"I need to make clear that any death is deeply regrettable but as I understand the situation, the man was challenged and refused to obey police instructions."

The  cousin of  the innocent electrician shot dead by police has branded the armed officers "incompetent". and urged police to make public CCTV footage from the station. He also refused to accept the Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair's apology to his family.

The stance of the police so far, appears to be that because they had reasonable suspicion that the man was connected to a location they had under surveilance, they also had reasonable suspicion to assume he was about to detonate exposives. Thus when they challenged him (unproven), and he entered the train they had no choice but to "shoot to kill." It suggests that because the man did not obey police instruction, he in some way incurred, or earned, the death penalty that he received. Police are stating that the man vaulted over the tube station barriers, and was challenged to stop by police. This has NOT been confirmed by CCTV footage.

Why was this man not apprehended BEFORE he got to the tube station? Are we now living in a society where the subliminal message is, obey the police or risk execution?

A picture is beginning to emerge of the events that led to the killing of a Brazilian man by a police ARU (Armed Response Unit) at Stockwell Tube station earlier today. Latest statements are indicating that the man killed is NOT one of the four suspects shown in the CCTV images issued earlier.

Who exactly he is, and what he was doing is not yet apparent. Police have only stated that he was a "terrorist suspect". Eyewitness reports are stating that he was shot five times, at close range, in the body. Forgive me for asking a stupid question, but if he was suspected of carrying a bomb strapped around his waist, why shoot him in the area most likely to contain the explosive?

"An Asian guy ran on to the train. As he ran, he was hotly pursued by what I knew to be three plain-clothes police officers.

As the man got on the train I looked at his face. He looked from left to right, but he basically looked like a cornered rabbit, like a cornered fox.

He looked absolutely petrified.

He half-tripped, was half-pushed to the floor. One of the police officers was holding a black automatic pistol in his left hand. They held it down to him and unloaded five shots into him. I saw it. He's dead, five shots, he's dead. I'm totally distraught, It was no more than five yards away from where I was sitting as I saw it with my own eyes."

Sky News is also reporting that another dubious and phantom militant group linked to al Qaeda has claimed responsibility for yesterdays attacks. Meanwhile the Mirror is reporting that Scotland Yard knew the Tube would be bombed yesterday after receiving a tip off.

Further widespread alerts in the capitol today, after reports of a series of explosions at Warren Street, Oval, and Shepherds Bush Underground stations, and an explosion on the number 26 bus on the Hackney road. The explosions were said by the Metropolitan police to be "close to simultaneous."

Amidst rumors of dummy nail bombs and failed detonations, the facts are currently murky, but it is known, that these attacks are significantly smaller than those of July 7th. One casualty has been reported, and the injuries sustained are not life threatening. A search involving armed police was said to be underway for a man, who police say threatened to blow himself up, and then ran away. This appeared to be centering around the University College Hospital near Warren street station.

Significantly, all of this is happening at a time when the British government is attempting to convince the public of the need for another round of draconian anti-terror legislation. Mr Blair was today meeting with the heads of MI5, MI6, the Metropolitan Police, the Joint Intelligence Committee, and the COBRA group, at which the new powers required by the security services were due to be discussed. The US administration is also due to renew the Patriot Act today, and these developments will no doubt add further grease to the wheels of that process.

It will be interesting to see how the British press respond to these new attacks. Some had already begun to raise a few awkward questions, regarding anomalies and inconsistencies in the official story of 7/7. Will some of these questions now conveniently disappear, along with any media objections to the governments new legislation?

Parliamentary MPs and Lords of the land crossing a picket line!? Politicians and peers cleaning their own offices!? That's what you'll see outside the Houses of Parliament today.

Around 170 cleaners ceased spraying the disinfectant onto toilet seats, and cleaning any of the many surfaces stained and splashed by Honorable Members today. The dispute is over poor pay and working conditions. Cleaners are demanding a "London living wage" of £6.70 an hour, as opposed to the miserly sum of around £5.00 an hour they currently receive. MP's themselves are currently the recipients of a salary in excess of £57,000 a year.

Trying to follow the 'official' version of what happened on the morning of the 7th of July in London has been a bewildering experience. As as the 'facts' themselves seem constantly to switch and to change shape. The list of changes to the official story has been extensive, and by now many people will have turned their attention elsewhere. They will assume that the authorities have it all in hand, and that somewhere along the line, they will be told the truth about what really happened on that awful day.

Now it emerges that some police and intelligence sources are indicating they do not necessarily subscribe to the theory that the four men involved in the bombings intended to die. Both the UK Herald Sun and the London Independent have picked up on this thread. It is certainly extremely strange that a group of men who we have been previously told were "suicide bombers" should have paid for return rail tickets, and the cost of parking their car in Luton, before embarking on the last leg of a journey from which they did not expect to return.

In addition, the controversy continues over an Associated Press story that emerged in the immediate hours following the attack. The story contained the remarks of a “senior Israeli official” who claimed that former Israeli Prime Minister and current Finance Minister Benyamin Netanyahu, who was in London for an economic conference, was given advance warning by Scotland Yard “minutes” before the bombings.

A subsequent AP report contained the Israeli’s government’s denial of a prior warning, and Netanyahu himself appeared on the UK Sky Televison News network to do the same. The AP article has (according to some sources), now been 'amended', to correct this apparent oversight. However the story is still alive, with further sources now claiming it has in fact been confirmed, and that the Israeli Intelligence agency MOSSAD received a warning at least 6 minutes before the first blast occurred.

Comment:

Consider for a moment the fact that the official version of events has London Underground (via the Tube maintenance company Metronet), issuing the report of the "massive power failure" at 09:28 am. This plainly will not sit with the notion that certain Intelligence agencies had advance warning. For if Mr Netanyhu was warned six minutes before, then whoever contacted him, must surely have had at the bare minimum eight to ten minutes advance notice. That would indicate that SOMEBODY was aware of what was going to happen as early as 08:45 and perhaps even before that.

Did those who may have had intelligence simply neglect to inform the London Transport authorities of the impending threat to passenger lives? How is it possible that an Israeli official could be aware of what murder and mayhem was about to be unleashed as early as 08:45 yet the British people were not? We have already been told that these attacks came "out of the blue", and at a time when intelligence sources indicated the threat was less severe than at any time since September 11th 2001. Something is plainly amiss here. We are told that the underground bombs exploded almost simultaneously at 08:51 and the first eye witness reports of Kings Cross being evacuated appears around 09:05.

There is also the well established fact that drills were being run in the same time frame as the bombings, and that these resembled "almost exactly" the attacks taking place in the capitol. Add to this the seemingly inexplicable 'intelligence failure' that allowed a mysterious Al Qaeda operative to embark and disembark these shores in the weeks before the attack, and the whole picture begins to look even more murky and unbalanced.

• The official line is now switching towards the theory that the bombs were home made 'shoe bombs'. In which case why were they synchronized high grade 'military explosives' with timers just a few days ago?

• Now that the heat is off, and all the bands and parades have packed up and gone home, just look at them trying to backpedal on the issue of African debt relief. The cynicism of these people is beyond belief.

This article claims that they plan to build 30 of them, but at the rate of one a year I make 6 between now and 2011.That's still a lot of scary money though.

I can't believe I didn't know about this. It wasn't exactly a front page story here in the UK>. Perhaps the mainstream UK media was preoccupied with covering up it's own compelling evidence? It's amazing how much of this information is quietly reported by them, and silently disregarded from then onwards.
