Not content with legitimizing torture as a general practice for
political prisoners, the US military is funding a plan to introduce a
weapon that can inflict pain remotely. The New Scientist is reporting that;
The US military is funding development of a weapon that delivers a bout of excruciating pain from up to 2 kilometres away. Intended for use against rioters, it is meant to leave victims unharmed. But pain researchers are furious that work aimed at controlling pain has been used to develop a weapon. And they fear that the technology will be used for torture. Are these people never satisfied!? Sometimes it seems that their very reason for living, is to design new methods to control and manipulate us. They are never happy with the restraints they have in place, and so must be forever tightening the noose. All of this follows the introduction of tasers, stun guns, and sound cannons, that can fire a harmful stream of electricity, or a powerful incapacitating sound wave, at individuals or crowds. It seems the future of law enforcement is on its way, and you are going to need to be standing more than 2 kilometers away to avoid it! |
