I put this together over the course of a week using a friends digital
stills camera, that just happens to shoot a little video on the side.
:) The most dificult thing, apart from watching iMovie 5.0 crash a lot
and waiting for things to save and encode, was figuring out the best
way to get it onto the web! It's a 12.7 Mb file, so please be a little patient with it whilst it is loading!

The Mass Surveilance Society
by
John B
on August 19, 2005 12:29AM (BST)
The British governnment is continuing its push to ensure that every UK
citizen will be required too carry the new ID card in the very near
future. Opposition to the card has virtually collapsed in the wake of
the London bombings.
The new card will carry a biometric scan of every individuals facial
features, which will be placed on a national database, that can be
matched with images accessible to police and security services from the
4 million CCTV cameras currently active in Britain. Charles Clarke, the
Home Secretary, has said that the "facial images national database
should be operational by December 2006"

All hail Oceania!
by
John B
on July 30, 2005 03:16AM (BST)
I've been re-reading George Orwell's 1984, a book which is so eerily prescient, that it feels
like it was written this week!
A society where all citizens are relentlessly scrutinized by the
ever present eye of a totalitarian surveillance state. Where false
beliefs are ruthlessly conditioned, and the media is systematically
altered in real-time to conceal the facts. A world where freedom has vanished, and truth is
deemed to be morally relative. Engaged in a never ending war, against
an invisible enemy from within and without. Where dissidents, thought
criminals, and P.O.W s' are routinely killed and tortured, and where
orthodoxy means, you never question the authority of the all-powerful
state.
Sound familiar!? If it doesn't now, it will soon!
